feast-w2-headerIt's a feast for all the senses! It's a party in a tent!

2008 was the first year for Feast Walla Walla and as one of the 600 attendees, I am here to say - - it was great! And here we are again with Feast Walla Walla 2009 just around the corner, Saturday April 11 from 1-4 pm.

Feast Walla Walla is a celebration of Walla Walla's food, wine and art and it all happens in a tent located at historical downtown Walla Walla on First Avenue and Main Street. It's a wonderful opportunity for locals and tourists to experience what Walla Walla is known for - food, wine and art. Besides entrance with the ticket price, we were given 10 tokens to be used towards food and wine, an etched wine glass commemorating the event and a souvenir plate to hold our "feast."

Come with a healthy appetite to sample all of the tasty morsels Walla Walla's talented food purveyors have to offer. Last year I experienced so many delicious highlights and to name a few: I am still swooning over the generous portion of BBQ shrimp and grits with the garnish of fried plantain from The Marc at the Marcus Whitman Hotel. There were bowls of spicy Cajun goodness topped with cornbread from the Whoop 'Em Up Hollow Café and T. Maccarone's made me very happy with their Italian-style meatballs from Tom's legendary family recipe. And if my taste bud's memory serves me right, I made several trips to Bright's Candies to satisfy my chocolate addiction. Can 2009 top last year? I have no doubt!

And what's a feast in Walla Walla without wine? Several Walla Walla wineries participated and were pouring their best. I was tickled "pink" to sample the cool crisp roses' from Buty Winery, Sleight of Hand and Three Rivers Winery which was a wonderful reminder that summer was on the way.

And last but not least, there was live music in the background, art on every wall, and even book signings - a feast for the ears and the eyes!

Feast Walla Walla is sponsored by Banner Bank with proceeds to the Downtown Walla Walla Foundation. Last year we couldn't have asked for nicer weather during Feast Walla Walla 2008 and let's keep our fingers crossed for this year. However, come rain or shine we will be covered - - with a tent large enough to cover a city block -- curb to curb and crosswalk to crosswalk. So get covered and Feast Walla Walla 2009!
